Smoothing Warehouse Floor For Large Sports Fashion Retailers Autostore Installation

About The Client:

Our client, a manufacturer of agricultural products since 1832, has a busy warehouse used to store and despatch a wide range of major animal health, equestrian, and pet care brands.

To aid them with their thriving business, they decided to add an AutoStore system.

The Situation:

Meeting Demanding Floor Flatness Tolerances

The client called CG Flooring in to look at the floor of their warehouse which had been in use for a number of years. Whilst it was still serviceable and appeared in sound condition, capable of supporting its current operational process, it would inevitably fail to meet the floor specification required for the new robotic system our client was installing

The Solution:

Remediating Floors with CoGri Fastfloor IT

After the floor had been surveyed by our sister company, Face Consultants Ltd, our first option was, as always, to consider using our specialist grinding service to remediate the floor, as this generally works well in most instances. However, occasionally we come across a floor where the surface regularity is outside the limits for grinding and we have to look for an alternative solution.

On this occasion, our CoGri Fastfloor IT industrial screed system was the way to go.

After some detailed planning with all parties involved, work commenced on-site to prepare the floor slab and get it ready for the application of CoGri Fastfloor IT.

When working to demanding floor flatness tolerances, the surface preparation phase is technically challenging and requires a great deal of attention to detail.

It is where the hard yards are earned (a great deal of effort or hard work, for those of you unfamiliar with sporting terminology!) and is the absolute key to the success of the floor remediation works.

Once the preparation phase was complete, the slab was primed with CoGri Fastprime, prior to pump-applying our floor screed. The screed was poured in one day and allowed to dry out over the weekend before we returned to add the finishing touches. From start to finish on-site, the process of delivering a floor fully compliant with the AutoStore specification took 8 days. This provided the system integrator with a flat surface to build off.

Our team of specialists from CG Flooring Systems, including a surveyor from Face Consultants, were delighted to have been appointed by the client for this project. We were able to support them with the technical flooring knowledge and service needed to complement the cutting-edge warehouse technology they were installing.

We provide a one-stop shop for concrete floor requirements, offering sound, professional advice throughout the journey. One of the many benefits of choosing a specialist in the field.
