Creative Flooring Solutions
Our client, a creative marketing agency specialising in print management, fulfilment, and design, decided to implement an AutoStore system in a 750m2 area of their facility. After contacting CG Flooring Systems, an AutoStore preferred flooring specialist, our client knew they
were in safe hands.
To keep up with the demands of the services they offered, our client decided that the AutoStore system would prove beneficial to them now and in the foreseeable future. AutoStore, as mentioned in previous case studies, has a very tight floor specification to enable its systems to perform efficiently
The Situation:
Identifying Problem Areas
The first stage in providing a floor with tight tolerances was to call our sister company, Face Consultants, which specialises in the design, surveying, and testing of commercial and industrial concrete floors.
Face Consultants surveyed the floor using a state-of-the-art laser-guided Robotics Profileograph, seen in picture 1.
The results of the floor survey highlighted which areas within the 750m2 area needed to be improved to meet specification.
The Solution:
Analysis of the Survey
After analysing the results given by Face Consultants, CG Flooring Systems advised the client that the best way to move forward was to remove the steel armour joint from where the AutoStore system would be installed. Corrective grinding would then follow to bring it within compliance. A flooring schedule was put together to deliver the floor within the given time frame.
Work on Site
Working to a tight programme, CG Flooring completed the steel armour joint repairs in an
earlier visit.
Our grinding team then started on the same day as the mezzanine installation team – the race was on!
The challenge was to stay ahead of them.
Our grinding team succeeded, ensuring continuity of work for all parties. Not only that but the project was completed in six days, ahead of schedule.
The Results:

We were pleased to have been assigned this project by our client. It allowed us to provide a full floor remediation package: from the initial floor surface regularity tests with the help of Face Consultants to the removal and repair of the steel armoured joint and the final corrective grinding to bring the floor within compliance.
Installing an AutoStore system gives our clients the speed, precision, and reliability needed to keep up with a fast-paced economy and their customer’s many demands. Implementing an automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) of this nature can not only quadruple storage space capacity but can reduce the energy it uses, something many are very conscious of due to rising energy prices.
