It was global partnership working at its very best recently, when CoGri Asia Pacific [CGAP] and CG Flooring Systems in the UK teamed up to deliver a large area pump screed job for one of the leading online grocery companies in Singapore.
Offering customers a huge range of leading brands such as Kimberly-Clark, Pampers and Coca-Cola, the grocery firm pride themselves on neatly packing customer orders and delivering them to the door in quick time. To help this continue and further improve productivity, they wanted to upgrade the floor flatness at a newly built distribution centre. CGAP were called in.
“Before we started work, our engineers performed a 1m grid survey of the existing 5000m2 slab to allow us to come up with an accurate floor upgrading plan” said Martyn Napier, Project Manager for CGAP . “We found that the floor plate had a total elevation difference of over 60mm, and the owner wanted a floor which met the TR-34 FM3 standard, but had a limited budget.”
CoGri Asia Pacific looked in to various options to ensure the distribution centre floor which met that standard without compromising on service and quality.
“We removed more than 10m3 of concrete from the floor surface, installed 5000 screws for level control and laid around 3,500 bags of screed over four weeks” said Alan Yuill, Director of CG Flooring Systems. “We did a great job, and it shows that CG Flooring Systems and CoGri Asia Pacific have a fantastic international working relationship. As a result of our joint efforts, the new floor and warehouse start operating in late February.”
The impressive benefit of pump screed technology is that the finished screed is durable, tough, abrasion resistant; and it’s ready for traffic in less than 24 hours.
