Concrete Floor in Fashion

March 1, 2014

Refurbished floors at the Fashion and Textile MuseumThe start of the year saw CG Flooring Systems Ltd involved in refurbishing the exhibition floor at the Fashion and Textile Museum (FTM) in London. After years of applying a variety of oil based paints to the concrete floor, the museum was looking to return the floor to a more natural concrete finish to enhance their gallery space.

It was agreed that grinding and polishing the floor was the best solution to bring out the natural beauty of the original concrete floor that had been hidden for a long time. Surface preparation was completed by diamond grinding a significant amount of floor paint from the floor to expose the concrete floor slab. Once exposed, the floor slab was then treated to a three stage diamond grind and polish process, before the application of a seal coat. The museum had a small window of opportunity in its programme and the work was completed within one working week. This was no small achievement and was made possible and successful through good communication, planning and professionalism of all parties.

The client was very happy with the outcome, “The floor is looking really lovely now. We are so pleased with the high standard of service and the amazing finish that we have arrived at now”, said Beth West of FTM.

It was a great project for CG Flooring Systems to be involved in and enjoyed working for such a prestigious client.
