It’s always a sign of great workmanship when a company remembers you and wants you to come back and do more work.
That’s exactly what happened to CG Flooring Systems recently, when they were asked to upgrade part of a factory floor with an anti-slip surface at Warwickshire based Tappex, who make threaded inserts for wood, metal and plastic.
“We’d been called in by Tappex a few years ago because they needed an anti-slip floor” said Director of CG Flooring Systems, Alan Yuill. “We did a good job then, which they obviously remembered and it was great to be invited back.”
“This time round, they needed us to work over a 465m2 area. A substantial job indeed, and one with a few obstacles and challenges that we had to overcome”
Greasy liquid and oil spillages had taken its toll on the current floor area over the years, so it meant that CG Flooring Systems had to pay particular attention to the surface preparation before work could start. Every foreign body and contaminant found within the current surface needed to be encapsulated and removed in the prep stage, otherwise the upgrade wouldn’t take.
“After surface preparation was complete, a surface sealer was applied to encapsulate the floor slab and prevent contamination of the new flooring system from within the slab” said Alan. “The anti-slip floor system was applied to meet the clients Health and Safety requirements. We applied two coats of resin with quartz aggregate scattered between each layer of resin, before finally applying demarcation lines to identify traffic routes from production areas.”
It’s an application that CG Flooring Systems are used to, but with a lot of expensive machinery that they had to work around, it made the task not-so straight forward.
Mr Yuill said: “Tappex wanted the anti-slip floor in an area that had various machines and bits of kit in the vicinity. We needed to work around these, but not compromise on standards of service, or the quality of the finished floor. It made the job slightly more difficult, but we’ve got the team to rise to challenges like these, and delivery a perfect result every time.”
The resulting floor performed well, and looked great. It gives CG Flooring Systems two successful results at Tappex, to add to hundreds more all over the rest of the country.
